Boxing and CBD A Knockout Punch

Whether it be at an amateur, professional, or workout level, the sport of boxing is immensely popular.  The training and workouts are extremely aggressive, including high impact, and very demanding on the body. These intense activities can lead to injuries, soreness, and fatigue.  Boxers are now turning to CBD to help them in their training, fighting, and recovery regimes.

 First, What Is CBD?

CBD is produced by hemp or cannabis plants. It stands for cannabidiol and is one of the 113 phytochemicals that occur in these holistic plants. It interacts with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is one of the internal systems in the body. This system is now recognized as the 12th and regulates different functions in the body by utilizing different receptors both in the body and the brain. The two receptors are called CB1 and CB2. CB1is more abundant in the brain and is related to neurological ailments. CB2 is more abundant in the immune system and relates to pain and inflammation.

CBD has been implicated in dealing with a huge range of illnesses and diseases for thousands of years. In 1940 chemists discovered it, but it was not studied intently until 1963. An Israeli researcher, Raphael Mechoulam of Jerusalem, is the leading researcher in finding medical applications for CBD. Numerous research projects are underway to verify the use of several medicinal applications.

CBD For the World of Boxing

At first glance, Boxers and CBD? It seems like they would be a world apart; however, that is not the case. Boxing is a high-impact sport and very demanding on the body. CBD’s powerful anti-inflammatory and pain reduction properties are well suited for the boxer. To speed up recovery times and help with pain and inflammation, athletes are turning to CBD.

Some of the injuries associated with boxing are carpal bossing, arthritis, tennis elbow, shoulder pain, headaches, ankle sprains, knee problems, and overall fatigue. Applying CBD lotions topically can assist with the pain and inflammation from these injuries. CBD Wild Leaf has two forms and intensities of lotions. Our Freze Releaf (our play on Relief) roll-on has 500mg of CNBD per one ounce, and we have a pump lotion which is 200 mg of CBD per 4 ounces.
